Revised thesis statement:
Because Barbie is the single most successful doll ever produced, she is to blame for self-esteem and body image issues among young girls.
Subtopics:
-Barbie's have unrealistic body measurements that are not obtainable among girls
-Barbie's are the most popular doll making it influential on the expectations it creates for girls.
-
I feel that my claim is important because Barbie is a very well-known doll around the world. So many young girls play with Barbie dolls and look up to/want to be or look just like her. How she looks and her proportions are unrealistic in the real world.

Toward a Policy on Drugs
-Narrow Topic: relationship between drugs and crime
-Thesis: Drug users should not be punished and it is not effective.
-Expectations in intro: Talking about what people want from a criminal justice system, different approaches to regulation/solution, see what has been working for other countries.
-Subtopics:
-sub points
Defining punishments, defining usage, the relations between crime and drugs. Also goes into talking about legalization as a solution, medicinal use, decriminalization. Another option talked about following methods that other countries use.
-Conclusion: Wraps it up by talking about the correlation between crime rates and drug use. Talks about even if drugs were easier to access doesn't mean that crime rates will go down. It is a complex solution.

Why is college bullshit?
The claim of this episode of "bullshit" was that college isn't what it is perceived to be. College is said to be a place where everyone's perceptions and ideas can come together and in the episode it tries to prove that's not the case. It also talks about the stereotype that in order to be successful and go somewhere in life you have to go to college. It gives examples of how professors are brainwashing. I would say that the overall claim was fairly focused. They showed some interviews from students attending the college and their opinions. They also used consultants, lawyers, professors, etc. to back up the statement that college is bullshit.

Immigration Comparison
The two stories talked about immigration, Mexican immigration in specific. They talked about reasons why/why not immigrants should be allowed in the U.S. While talking about immigration there was also politics involved. Politics have to be involved due to there being a law on illegal immigration. Other topics related include inequality, family, citizenship, poverty, etc. Immigration in the past compared to the present is similar and the policy/law should mirror that. The purpose is to educate the reader about the U.S/Mexico immigration. The writer compares his ancestors(his grandfather vs. Angel) tone is serious and dramatic.
Story 2
The second story was more about the reasons why illegal immigrants should not be allowed in the United States. It also talked about things such as cheap labor, identity, legality. Enforcement on illegal immigration isn't tough enough; U.S is complacent with illegal immigration; expectations are too low. Audience could be voters, people for open borders and amnesty. The story is very serious and authoritative.

TED talk
I think that the implied thesis is gossip shows who we really are as a society. A lot of people are embarrassed or it is frowned upon to gossip and read magazines about celebrities. The lady on ted talk made a lot of connections to gossiping. Whether it's about gender, sexuality, or cheating scandals it all shows us who we really are based on our opinions about the topics. She gave an example of how a few years back Chris Brown beat Rhianna yet he just won a grammy and we as a society are supporting his music.

Difficulties when reading poetry
Poetry to me is more of an emotional art that I don't understand. Poetry is difficult for me because I have never really understood why it is written the way it is. Most poetry I read it is hard for me to interpret what the poet is trying to get across/what the poetry is about just in general.

Reality that's masked
I think that the MMA(mixed martial arts) is masked. When I used to watch MMA with my dad I thought that it was just jacked guys who knew how to fight really good. I later found out that a lot of fighters used steroids. In every sport I know of steroids aren't allowed and the player would get put on probation/banned. This is surprising to me because MMA has grown a lot in the media over the past few years. With an up and coming sport one would think that steroids would be prohibited. I think that not putting a strict restriction on drug tests is clearly an unfair advantage and it takes the fun out of the sport.

Reactions to readings
1. I thought that the story had a lot of emotion and detail. He was describing how he lost his wife. He never directly stated it but with throughout the story the reader can come to that conclusion. His son put on a wig that reminded him of what his wife's hair had looked like. At first he wanted him to take the wig off, but then I feel like he started to see part of his wife in his son and became less mad and felt more of a sadness.
What goes on in your head?
When I make a mistake or say something stupid I'll keep asking myself in my head why did I just do/say that. I'll replay a lot of events that happened or conversations with people or advice/sayings from my parents

Imagery
Bird
-something out of a children's book. There are books, a cookie, and a lot of different colors in this picture.
-I think that the artist was really trying to focus on the bird and all of the colors by doing a plain black background
-There are a lot of different textures throughout the different colors/shapes
Black figure
-a black figure falling out of the sky
-there isn't really any texture and it's mostly all black and white
-mad men
- 9/ll
Image 3
-Starving child, I think that the vulture is waiting for the child to die so he can be his meal
-place where there is no food or water
-seems very dry/little grass
-makes me wonder where his mom/tribe is

Reflection on feedbak
I thought that the peer review helped me see my paper through someone else's perspective. I got good feedback on things/ideas that I could expand on. The feedback somewhat compared to my expectations. He told me that he came across quite a bit of grammar/sentence issues that I wasn't expecting. He also told me that I had good detail in a lot of areas which I also thought I did well.
Peer review
I think that I need to further explain myself in some areas. Shorten/elongate some paragraphs. I probably have some grammar errors, run-ons, etc. Sometimes I have trouble getting out the words I am trying to say/thinking if.
I think that my classmate will probably agree on some of the things that I think I need to work on. I might not have explained myself enough from someone else's perspective besides my own. Some questions I have are: what areas in my paper need work? Do I need to further explain myself in a certain part? Maybe take out or add something?

Event that defines character
It was my senior year of high school and I was on cloud nine. It was near the end of my last high school soccer career and I was ranked in the top ten scorers in Minnesota. I was committed to The University of North Dakota to play division soccer on a seventy-five percent scholarship. It was shortly after I has just played the game of my life when my vision and dream for the future came to a stop. It was the semi-final game or I guess you could say the big game you had to win in order to advance to go to state. It was a huge aspiration of mine to make it to the state tournament. I felt that my high school soccer career was not complete without making to the state tournament with the history behind my schools soccer program.....
The time in my life when
I played soccer for a well-known premiere soccer club. Everyone on my team committed to play division 1 or division 2 college soccer and I was the only one on my team that did not further my soccer career. My coach had put a lot of time and effort into training all of us to play college soccer and I felt that he was disappointed I chose not to.

Personal Narrative example
- Good introduction, caught my attention
-I liked the story she told behind why her loved ones are more important than money
-Descriptive/painted picture in my head
-Good details/descriptive in beginning. Lacks details/not descriptive towards ending
-Conclusion too short
-Got lazy towards the end

Confession
The summer after my junior year in high school me and some of my girlfriends bought wefest tickets. I knew there was no way my parents would let me go so I convinced them that a group of us girls were going up to my friend Taylor's "cabin" in Detroit lakes where wefest was. We camped with my friends older brother and all of his friends that were freshman in college at that time. All day and all night we would get super fucked up and go to the concerts. The night Eric Church was playing I could barely stand to make it through the gates and almost got my wristband taken away. Later that night we raided some of the campsites and stole booze and went to raves after the concert. I was so drunk that I couldn't figure out how to unlock the porta a potty so I kicked the door out. I saw things I has never seen before (people doing cocaine off of vans) Long story short I hope my parents never find that out.

Twitter profile described
On my twitter profile I do not tweet very frequently but I do favorite/retweet very often. (favorite things every day) I am social media a lot more than I should be including twitter. I mostly go on social media during classes when lecture is getting long and boring and I need some entertainment. Although I do not tweet often I am up to date on what everyone else is doing. On twitter I mostly favorite or retweet funny vines or pictures.
I think that the type of person that is being portrayed on my twitter account is someone who likes humor and sarcasm. I think that my account portrays me pretty well considering I love humor and I am extremely sarcastic. I don't have the typical sappy girl tweets about how terrible men are and all of that dramatic stuff.
